About Us
A place as unique as Canine Country Resort cannot exist without an equally unique and innovative vision. Here, that vision belongs to owners John and Lisa. An animal lover from childhood, Lisa moved to New York City in 1983. After being laid off from Real Estate Banking, the ever-industrious Lisa started walking dogs in 1990. John was born and raised in New York City. He worked for his father’s company, The Ross Companies, and at various country clubs on the weekends. Lisa met John while out on her rounds of dog walking, of course (Reminiscent of 101 Dalmatians, a true doggie-fairy tale!). They were married in 1998 and relocated to Goshen. What is the idea behind Canine Country Resort? A Disney World for dogs, of course! Somewhere they can vacation and have the time of their lives! Lisa is proud to report that she still cares for her very first client’s dog. (His third pet.) A long-term relationship like that speaks volumes for Lisa's capability in caring for dogs. Her clients know that their dog is under the very best care possible. John made the transition from the big city to his very own farm, caring for the dogs, horses and other farm animals. He is "the dog whisperer" and Dr. Phil rolled into one as he is entrusted with coaxing and dealing with the occasional difficult animal. Everyone at CCR can see eye-to-eye with John :) In addition to his work with the animals, John maintains the three buildings on the Ross property as well as the 15 acres surrounding it. Taking a look around you can see his hard work pays off; the grounds are truly pristine. John sure has his hands full! when not tending to the animals or taking care of the buildings, he can be found driving the CCR van into New York City on Tuesdays and Thursdays. John and Lisa are happy to share their vision with you and hope your pet enjoys his or her time with us at Canine Country Resort

Staff Bios

The Canine Country Resort staff is a group of experienced, caring individuals with a talent for knowing how to comfort and care for each dog as well as meet their basic needs.

Katrina leads the staff with over 8 years here at Canine Country Resort since 2000. Her attention to detail and extensive knowledge of all our clients (having grown up right alongside most of them!) makes her one of CCR’s most valuable assets. She is the proud mother of a high-maintenance Brussels Griffon named Cutie Pie. Katrina plans on spreading her skill and bedside manner to the human species when she begins her studies in nursing this fall.

Kaylin has been at Canine Country Resort since 2006. There are no bounds to the affection and devotion she has for the dogs here. In fact, she has a nickname and theme song for almost every dog here. (Just ask Brutus, otherwise known as "Brute, Scoot and Boogie.") Kaylin does not limit her passion to CCR, having worked at the local animal shelter and planning to pursue training as a veterinary technician.

Tatiana has worked at Canine Country Resort since 2005. Her personality and kind demeanor make her a great fit for the CCR clients, dogs and owners alike. A hard worker, she is driven and conscientious in all her efforts. In addition to helping out with the dogs, Tatiana spends some of her time here milking and tending to the goats and ‘herding’ the guinea hens when it’s time for feeding. In the fall, she is attending St. John’s University to study accounting and finance.

Jen has been devoted to Canine Country Resort since 2004. Her easy-going personality as well as overall tenacity makes her a perfect match for CCR. With dogs in her family for as long as she can remember, dogs are truly a passion for Jen. When not "married" to CCR, she attends Bryant University with a focus on marketing, and works part-time at an up-scale grooming facility in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Heather is the newest member to the Canine Country Resort team, joining in May of 2008. A true dog-lover, Heather has experience in animal rescue, volunteering in Cieba, Puerto Rico, animal nutrition and natural health, and as a veterinary technician. Heather believes it is our responsibility to be the best guardians for our animals when they are here and regards them with the utmost trust and affection. She is newly married to a New York City fireman (not just puppy love!) and is the proud mother to her own pack of fur-babies :)

As project coordinator, Edie helps get our name out around the area. Her background in graphic arts lends itself to her usual tasks of photography and advertising. Edie writes for a local newspaper and has been published in numerous Equine magazines. With a farm right down the road, she has been friends with John and Lisa for nearly 10 years. Edie enjoys her work here because it combines all her skills and she is readily available to help with any canine or equine needs here at CCR.
